Rehabilitation from Sports Injuries

Athletes can get special attention and treatment from physical therapists. Because these sports enthusiasts follow a very specific lifestyle where they make use of their physical functions more often than the average individual, they should receive equally specialized treatment from physical therapists.

American Therapy House can treat recreational athletes, amateur athletes, and professional athletes. Commonly, our outpatient therapy services are used to treat musculoskeletal injuries that have resulted for excessive or strenuous activities.

In other cases, we treat patients who have injuries that resulted from improper use or a deviation from accustomed range of movement. Some injuries are minor and can be remedied through manual physical therapy or medication. Others need the attention of a sports medicine team to treat orthopedic injuries.

In all levels of Sports Physical Therapy, the ultimate goal is to help the patient get back to work, resume competitive games and return to their everyday life as quickly as possible. Conditions that may receive treatment from American Therapy House are:

  • Sprains and Strains
  • Tedonitis and Bursitis
  • Acute and Chronic musculoskeletal injuries
  • Post-operative injuries
    • ACL reconstruction
    • Meniscus tears
    • Rotator Cuff Repair

The Sports Injury Rehabilitation program encourages the involvement of the patient, physicians, athletic trainers, the patient’s coach(es), his or her employers and other health care professionals who may be concerned in the recovery of the primary patient.

The clinicians at American Therapy House are well-trained and experienced in the use of techniques and procedures such Activity Specific exercises and training, Bracing and Taping (athletic and kinesiotaping), Fabricating Protective pads, Rehabilitative Modalities, Manual Therapy (Massage), and Proprioceptive Training.

All in all, we seek ways to achieve the goal of total rehabilitation for our clients in the Outpatient Physical Therapy program.
