Incontinence is the involuntary loss of bowel or bladder control. This common problem affects millions of Americans of all age groups. Many people change their lifestyle in an effort to cope with the related embarrassment and may suffer needlessly before they seek help. Incontinence is treatable. According to the U.S. Agency for Health Care Policy and Research, 80% of those who suffer from incontinence can be successfully treated without surgery or drugs. Successful treatment begins with an accurate diagnosis by a physician. Treatment recommendations may include physical or occupational therapy.

Experienced Staff

Aurora Rehabilitation Center’s/Aurora Sports Medicine Institute’s Continence Program is staffed by physical and occupational therapists who have been specially trained in the principles of normal and abnormal continence, including issues involved with urinary control and pelvic pain. The program strives to provide individualized education and treatment with an emphasis on regaining control and function to allow comfortable and confident living.
